Biography

Yelitza Torres is a developing artist born and raised in Gillette, Wyoming. Her practice is primarily rooted in two-dimensional work, though she continually expands into multiple media as a way to more fully explore the concepts that intrigue her. Through her artwork, Torres reflects on personal lived experiences while questioning and challenging ideas that hold personal and social significance.

She is currently studying at the University of Wyoming, where she works as a graphic designer for student media while pursuing a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. During the first years of her college career, her work was exhibited in multiple shows at the Neltje Gallery. In 2024, her work was selected by Ucross Residency Director Tawni Shuler for the Student Juried Show. In 2025, her work was selected by Elaine Olafson Henry, Curator and Board of Trustees member, for her second Student Juried Show.

In addition to exhibiting works, Torres has worked as the lead gallery assistant at Sheridan College, which has provided her opportunities to collaborate with The Brinton Museum as an art preparator, assisting with the installation of their Bi-Annual Small Works Exhibition. She also worked as the advancement intern for the Ucross Foundation, where she provided meaningful support to the External Relations Manager, Residency program, and Gallery Exhibitions team at Ucross.
